North America is home to a wide variety of tree species and more families than the 44 we currently have listed below.  Thanks to habitat diversity from the very dry to the very wet and the extremely hot to the extremely cold, it is possible to find a member of just about any tree family on the planet in North America.  North America even has the only temperate species of the otherwise tropical genus Asimina in the Custard apple family.  North America is also home to the largest temperate rainforest and the largest remaining baldcypress forest in the world.  For the nature lover, North America is a treasure trove of diverse and wonderful native tree species that are surely as great as any imported species could ever be.
