While we believe these are images of Pinus elliottii var. densa, Florida slash pine, the individual trees pictured in this gallery are located in the transitional distribution area between the two varieties, var. elliottii and var. densa. They could be either or possibly a hybrid. We have based our identification on the bark, 2 bundled needles, the presence of grass-stage seedlings, the white scale-like buds, height and the lower position of the branches.
